Dr Wilcsek is an Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Director of Ocular Plastic Services Pty Ltd.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New College of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the Australia and New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
Dr Wilcsek heads the Ocular Plastic Unit at the Prince Of Wales Hospital servicing the Prince of Wales and the Sydney Children’s Hospitals in Sydney.
He currently lectures at the University of New South Wales for the faculties of Medicine and Optometry.
Dr Wilcsek was the Chairman of the Younger Fellows Group of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists between 2003 and 2005. During this time he sat on the Council of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
He regularly speaks at medical conferences around Australia, and is a supervisor of training for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
In addition to completing his medical degree at the University of Sydney and ophthalmic training at the Prince of Wales hospital Dr Wilcsek completed two accredited fellowships in Ocular Plastics and Orbit Surgery overseas.
The first at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Manhattan, New York under Associate Professor Mike Kazim and the second at the Royal Manchester Eye Hospital, Manchester, England, under Dr Brian Leatherbarrow.
On completion of his accredited fellowships in New York and Manchester Dr Wilcsek returned to Australia and chose to focus solely on the highly specialised area of ocular plastic surgery.
